Dress Rehearsal

Because we had rented out the space(Stanley halls)we only
got to do a dress and tech run on the day. this was a stressful experience as we had to become accustomed to the space very quickly. with stanley halls being such a large space this also Increased the difficulty on the dress rehearsals.

vocal evaluation

We need to bring everything we have to the rehearsal.  We need to have courage in order to succeed or you won’t get anywhere in acting. The entire cast has the capability to be distinction grade students but not all of us are putting enough effort in. the rehearsals shouldn’t end at the end of the lesson and the play should be on our minds at all times.

As an ensemble our commitment is fully needed otherwise it won’t pull together. If one person is not working to the best of their ability the rest of the cast will be effected as the audience will be drawn to the person brining the whole performance down which is why it is important we give 100% all the time.

evaluation of the performance day

At the start of our rehearsals we all did research into Polynesian culture and victorian culture, from this we began to devise the play. this tok uch longer than we had first anticipated as people were not learning lines fast enough and

We only got to perform in the space on the day of the performance which caused several difficultys as we were unsure of exactly how the space was layed out, this made the morning of the rehearsal very difficulty and we had to focus to do the first run through. the space had several differences to how we thought the space was laied out, for example there was not right stage stairs to the lower level, there was also not a door underneath the balcony, but curtains, the top balcony didnt have much space and was a health and safety hazard because the bar was quite low meaning we had to be cautious when up there.
he first run through took us 7 hours and was very unsuccessful, it was a push to make the cast realize how hard we needed to work to make the performance come together. some of the cast didn't know there cues or lines which was a serious issues that we had to deal with, after doing the first run through we had improved alot and the second run we done went much better, by this point we all knew what we were doing and was ready to perform.
The final performance went quite well, nobody nociably missed there cues or forgot lines and we performed confidently and convincingly. altought he plot of the play was confusing we performed it to the best of our capability and i thought overall the plot was understandable and entertaining.

First Reactions

the play we have chosen for our FMP is a complex play that i think we will be able to pull off, there will be lots of ensemble work which is important due to the large cast. the main characters should be split so that so mor people can get equal parts, the play is going to be very physical and ths will be important in portraying the story. i look forward to devising and performing this play.

scene 10 song

In South Australia I was born, heave away, haul away
In South Australia, 'round Cape Horn, were bound for South Australia

Haul away your rolling king, heave away, haul away
Haul away, youll hear me sing, were bound for South Australia

Costume for performance

For costume the Daphne have all decided to wear similar outfit and our hair gets messier as the show goes on from my hair being in a bun, to holly's being down. we are all going to wear white dresses whilst we are Daphne and the change costumes when we are not into jumpers and jeans, or similar things that teenagers would wear. when we come onto the stage we are going to cover ourself's in powder paint to show the transition from outside teenagers exploring the building to members of the nation. when we first coem on the whole cast will be wearing shoes, we will then change to bare foot so our feet are not as loud on the floor.

prololgue notes

The entire ensemble is entering through the doors under the balcony, apart from those in scene one who will be entering on the balcony. All in character as teenagers having broken into the building. We are looking around, exploring and there should be a general buzz on excitement. Mau (clay) will then enter and start the play by bringing the axe down onto the tree, all ensemble turn into birds and exit space. Scene is then followed immediately by storm(scene one)
